As the Summer holiday continues, work on preparing the Harrison site continues at pace to ready the School for September. We are delighted to share our first update on what the Estates’ Team has been working on and what we have achieved so far.
A further update will follow in a few weeks.
Works that began before the end of the summer term are now complete in the Armour Building, where two classrooms have been fully refurbished. The spaces have been transformed into bright, modern learning environments, featuring new furniture, fresh decoration, new carpeting, and specialist acoustic ceiling tiles to enhance significantly sound quality.
The former Junior Boys’ School toilet block has been fully refurbished for our female pupils, with similar improvements made to other toilet facilities across the site during summer 2024.
Internal refurbishment work began in Mulberry (formerly Milton) House ahead of the summer holidays. The images below show the space before work started, as well as progress during the refurbishment.
Belvidere House garden improvement works have commenced, with a few minor challenges along the way. These works being undertaken in-house by the Estates Team, alongside their day-to-day responsibilities during the merger process.
With the summer term now concluded, contractors and Estates staff have begun stripping out classrooms and offices across the Harrison site – including the Humanities Suite, Geography Office, former computer rooms, and the former Economics Block – in preparation for further redevelopment.
Work is also underway to transfer carefully contents and clear the Girls’ School site. Our Estates Team is doing an excellent job managing this process at pace, ensuring the site is emptied efficiently as part of the wider preparations for the upcoming changes across the school estate.
Where possible, furniture and equipment are being recycled or repurposed, with items currently being collated in Williams Hall ready for redistribution to their final locations. Where reuse is not feasible, the Estates Team has been working with our recycling service providers to responsibly manage and recycle various waste streams.
